Community
The Temescal Aquatic Masters have a history of giving back to the community through various programs. Because of the collective nature of the organization, these programs may vary year-to-year. In 2003, we organized and participated in the following community service activities:
Sports-4-Kids
The Sports-4-Kids program offers under-privileged youths an opportunity to learn swimming - from basic water safety and skills to more advanced stroke techniques. Volunteers from the Masters team divide the kids into small groups by skill level and instruct them over four Saturday mornings. The program is organized by Coach Dylan.
Swim-a-Thon
Our annual Swim-a-Thon raises money for the Temescal Tidalwaves, a youth swim team. The money is used to buy swimsuits, goggles, and other equipment for the children. Members of the Masters team solicit pledges from coworkers, friends, and family and then earn the money by swimming laps at the pool. In the past two years we raised over $11,000!
